Okehi Festival: Comrade Yakubu Adabenege Calls for Unity Amongst Ebira People

By Fancy Media Team

The people of Kogi Central Senatorial District have been urged to maintain the peace currently enjoyed in the area and continue to foster communal living in order to complement the security efforts and initiatives of the administration of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Comrade Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege, popularly known as Fancy, gave this admonition yesterday in Adavi LGA during a picnic organised in honour of a nocturnal performing masquerade, Okevere Osisi as Ebira people commemorate this year’s Okehi Festival.

The APC stalwart emphasized that there can never be development of any sort, amidst rancour and strife, praising Governor Yahaya Bello for investing heavily in maintaining peaceful coexistence in Kogi State.

Comrade Fancy who chaired the event, noted that the nocturnal masquerades in Ebira Land are known for their rich words of wisdom and didactic admonitions, specifically applauded Okevere Osisi for its unique performances, aimed at correcting the ills of society over the years.

He used the opportunity to commend the people for their peaceful disposition during and after the November 11 governorship election, which ushered in Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman as Governor-Elect, just as he expressed optimism that the incoming administration would accord necessary respect and recognition to the cultural values and aspects of the state held dear by the people.

The programme was well-attended by notable personalities of Ebira extraction, including the Executive Chairman of Okehi LGA, Hon. Abdulraheem Ohiare, Engr. Muhammed; former chairman of Okene LGA, Hon. Yahaya Karaku; and others.
