DG Special Task force on Illegal smuggling of fire arms Makama Lauds Gov. Bello for stopping illegal mining in Kogi
The Kogi State government, has officially proscribed illegal mining across the 21 Local Government of the State.
Governor Yahaya Bello disclosed this on Monday when he presented the 2024 budget before the Kogi State House of Assembly.
According to the Governor, illegal mining has been endemical to the social economic growth of Kogi State, stressing that, it must be stopped.
Responding to this development, the Kogi State Director General Special Task Force on illegal smuggling of fire arms and other related crimes Elder Dr Friday Sani Makama stated that, the present administration will not fold it’s arms and allow some disgruntled elements to milk the resource of the State for their own selfish gains.
Makama, who noted that, the decision of Governor Bello to stop illegal mining in Kogi was a welcome development added that, the Chairman of Miners had since be removed.
“In the statement today, by the executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, during the presentation of 2023 Budget said by implications, the so called structure of the illegal miners is accordingly dissolved. The state Chairman of miners , Mr Yenusa Oruma is hereby removed and his illegal local structure dissolved. Anyone who has dealings with him does that at his peril”he added.
