Okun Traditional Council Clarifies Position on Governor Ododo’s Second Term Bid
The Okun Area Traditional Council has denied reports that traditional rulers in the Kogi West Senatorial District rejected Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s second term bid, describing the story as fabricated and intended to cause confusion.
In a statement signed by the Council’s Secretary, Mr. Aremu Moses Tolorunju, the traditional rulers clarified that they would never issue a statement rejecting the governor’s bid, citing their role as fathers of the people and their adherence to strict codes of conduct.

The council revealed that the only recent meeting they held was a security review meeting convened by the governor in Lokoja, and no statement was issued after the meeting. Tolorunju expressed dismay that the authors of the false report would fabricate such a story to promote their hidden agenda.
The council also expressed surprise that the report attempted to subordinate them to a non-existent group called the Okun Leaders League (OLL), which they claimed had no existence in reality. The statement advised disgruntled politicians to desist from dragging the respected traditional rulers into their mischief.
The Okun Area Traditional Council regrets that a reputable newspaper like The Guardian allowed itself to be used to promote the agenda of self-serving individuals who lacked the courage to disclose their real identities.
