Ondo 2024: Gov. Akeredolu Discussed With Me To Be Next Governor -Wale Akinterinwa

BOLU-OLU ESHO, Akure

As the governorship primary of All Progressives Congress, APC, Ondo State chapter, draws nearer, the immediate past state Finance Commissioner, Wale Akinterinwa has disclosed that the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had discussed with him to become his successor.

His disclosed this on Friday during a live interview on a national television on his next move after the dissolution of the state executive council on Wednesday.

The financial expert stated that the late Governor discussed with him when he returned from his medical leave in September 2024, telling him to get prepared to become the next governor of the state.

When asked the exact date the discussion between him and the late governor took place, he said didn’t take notice of it.

He quickly added that he was aware the late governor told some persons about his desire to have him, Akinterinwa, succeed him in office.

According to him, ”Late Governor Akeredolu had a discussion with me in his office and he told me he would want me to takeover from him. I didn’t take particular notice of the date he had the discussion with me, but it happened immediately he came back from his trip to Germany.

”He prayed for me and I am aware he told some certain people about his desire.”

Moreover, when asked about his chances of clinching the governorship ticket of his party, APC, in April, Akinterinwa said the people of the state have confidence in him to midwife the affairs of the state as the governor.

He added that he would surely emerge victorious at the APC governorship primary to become the standard bearer of the party for the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

Akinterinwa, therefore, said he would officially declare his ambition to manage the affairs of the state as the executive governor of the state.

Akinterinwa, who was given a colourful welcome by a mammoth crowd at Akure Airport on Thursday in what the people described as an appreciation for his meritorious service to the state for over seven years.

He said: “Well at the appropriate time, I will officially announce my intention because it is not in doubt that I am still making further consultations. But I can assure you that I will get the ticket.

”The people of Ondo State are with me, and I am very confident that I will win the APC primary.”
