Open Letter: Clarification and Disclaimer Regarding Misleading Press Release Concerning NUT Kogi Western bloc

Public Notice,

I wish to address a recent misleading press release that has circulated regarding the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in the Kogi West Senatorial District.

It is essential to clarify that I have not received any communications from His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, nor have I conveyed any messages on his behalf to any individual or group concerning the current leadership matters within the NUT Kogi State Wing.

As a former branch chairman of the NUT in Yagba East Local Government Area and a National Representative for Kogi State teachers at the National level, I had the honor of attending a meeting convened by the esteemed Elders and leaders of the Kogi West NUT. This meeting brought together various state officers and branch chairmen, all of whom were invited to participate in discussions of significant importance.

Consequently, I extend my sincerest apologies to the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu whose name has been unjustly paraded across various national dailies due to the press release from some union leaders, which falsely claims he sent me to deliver his message. I am profoundly sorry for the distress that their unfounded accusations have caused you sir

I feel it is my duty to caution against the inappropriate use of my name and my close association with the Deputy Governor. It is disheartening to witness attempts to undermine his reputation for the sake of gaining fleeting popularity or manipulating public sentiment.

To reiterate, His Excellency has not sent me any messages regarding NUT affairs, nor have I disseminated any information in his name to any individual or group.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,
Comrade Orbajer Sulaiman
NUT National Representative, Kogi State
