OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIAN LEADERS.
Dear Mr. President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Senate President, Speaker House of Representatives, Securities Agencies, traditional rulers, and former presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
I hope this letter finds you well, although I write to you with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency. With deep concern and a sincere desire for change, I feel compelled to express the distress and anguish that many Nigerians are currently enduring.
It pains me to say that Nigeria is on fire. The flames of hunger, poverty, and insecurity are engulfing our nation, leaving countless people desperate and destitute. The high cost of foodstuffs has rendered basic necessities unaffordable for a large portion of the population, exacerbating an already dire situation. Families are struggling to put food on their tables, and the most vulnerable among us are suffering the most.
In addition to the economic hardships, the pervasive insecurity throughout the country is causing immense grief. Terrorism, banditry, and other forms of violence have become commonplace, leaving innocent Nigerians in fear for their lives. Our streets are no longer safe, and our communities are plagued by a sense of constant danger. It is essential that decisive action be taken to restore peace and security, and to protect the lives and property of our citizens.
Moreover, our educational system and healthcare infrastructure are crumbling. Our schools lack adequate resources and proper facilities, hindering the prospects of our youth. Our healthcare system is overwhelmed and under-resourced, leaving millions without access to proper medical care. These vital sectors that form the foundation of any society are collapsing, further exacerbating an already grim situation.
It is disheartening to observe that, despite these pressing challenges, our nation seems to be drowning in a state of inertia. We need urgent and effective leadership to address these crises. Every sector of our society, from the executive to the legislative, from the security agencies to the traditional rulers, must wake up to the realities faced by the citizens.
We implore you, our leaders, to rise up to the occasion. Nigeria deserves a government that genuinely cares about the welfare of its people, a government that diligently works towards prosperity and security. We need practical strategies that will alleviate the suffering of our people, restore hope, and rebuild our country.
Transparency and accountability should be the guiding principles for meaningful change. Resources must be allocated equitably and utilized judiciously, to ensure that every Nigerian can have access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Collaboration and unity should be fostered among our leaders, transcending political affiliations, for the greater good of Nigeria.
I appeal to your conscience, your sense of duty, and your love for Nigeria. Please open your ears to the cries of the people, and open your eyes to the reality that Nigeria is in dire need of your attention. The time for action is now.
Let this letter serve as a reminder that the fate of Nigeria lies in your hands. Nigeria is yearning for a brighter future, where hunger and insecurity are mere memories, where education and healthcare are accessible to all, and where prosperity is not the privilege of a few.
We believe in the resilience and strength of Nigeria. We believe in the ability of our leaders to effect positive change. Let us work together to reclaim the glory of our beloved nation.
May this letter awaken the spirit of compassion, urgency, and responsibility within you. The people of Nigeria await decisive action.
Yours sincerely,
Hon. Bala Salihu Dawakin kudu Director General Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria (PANN). 6/2/2024
