PAAU Honours Asiwaju Prince Olatunji with Doctorate Degree, reaffirming his support for Governor Ododo’s re-election.

The Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State, has conferred an honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) on the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Governorous Global Limited, and founder of Prince Olatunji Olusoji Foundation (PROOF), in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic work and contributions to the university’s development.

The investiture was conducted by the Governing Council and University Senate of Prince Abubakar Audu University, through the Vice Chancellor, by the powers conferred on her, and on the recommendation of the Council, conferring the degree of Doctor (Honoris Causa) on January 24, 2026.

In an official notification signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Barrister Yahaya Segun Alilu, Ph.D., the University acknowledged Asiwaju Prince Olatunji’s contributions to the growth and academic excellence of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, among other universities in Nigeria and his philanthropit gestures to humanity.

In his acceptance speech, Asiwaju Prince Olatunji praised Governor Usman Ododo’s performance across the state, saying his support for Ododo’s re-election remains unwavering despite criticism from his people.

He expressed surprise that people he’s not helped are celebrating him, while his own people are insulting him on WhatsApp, as if that’s where politics is played.

He stated he’s not part of the problem; rather, he’s working with other stakeholders to rescue Okun nation from “backwardness”, assuring then that the governorship seat will come in 2031.

“I still stand by my words that Governor Ododo will be re-elected in 2027 and Okun people will take over in 2031,” he said.

He said Okun people have been seeking the governorship for over 20 years, and he’s confident Governor Ododo will deliver it after his second term.

Olatunji also announced plans to build a structure on the university campus to mark his honor, assuring continued support for PAAU and other universities in Kogi State.

The Honorary Doctorate Degree is the University’s highest honor, reserved for individuals whose contributions have significantly enhanced the institution’s development, improved academic excellence, driven positive change, and exemplified true service to society, as evident in Asiwaju Prince Olatunji’s work.

Among other dignitaries, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed usman Ododo who doubles as the University Visitor, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Abdul-Aguye, the Chief Justice of Kogi State, Heads of other tertiary institutions in Kogi State as well as a retinue of Government Officials and distinguished individuals attended the eventful event.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof Marietu Ohunene Tenuche noted that the combined graduation was for Graduands from the 2022/2023 to 2024/2025 session adding that a total of 26,460; 157; 798 and 190 are graduates of Undergraduate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Graduates respectively.

The Vice Chancellor sincerely appreciated the Kogi State Governor and his entourage, Honorary Awardees, Past Vice Chancellors as well as other invited guests for their time and contributions to the University’s growth.
