Plateau State Government Holds Church Service for 65th Independence Celebration

As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary, the Plateau State Government held a church service to commemorate the historic occasion.
The service took place at the EYN LCC in Jos, with Governor Caleb Mutfwang represented by Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo.
The Governor emphasized the importance of remembering the nation’s founding fathers and the government’s commitment to making Plateau State succeed.
He highlighted the administration’s efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and thanked citizens for their zeal towards peace and prosperity.
In his homily, Rev. Para Malam encouraged Plateau State residents and Nigerians not to give up despite challenges.
He emphasized the need for intentional pursuit of peace, citing biblical references (1 Peter 3:8-12 and Matthew 5:9).
The cleric also urged leaders and citizens to change the narrative, stressing that peace and unity are crucial for a prosperous nation.
The church service was attended by government officials, including Secretary to the State Government, Architect Samuel Jatau; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Daniel Nanbilistic; Chief Judge, represented by Justice Arum Ashom; and Gbong Gwom Jos, represented by Agwom Izere, HRH Rev. Dr. Isaac Azi Wakili.
Commissioner for Information, Hon. Joy Renap, highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing the need for reflection, prayer, and action to improve the state and nation.
She mentioned the government’s efforts to address IDPs’ plight, relocate them to ancestral homes, and promote interreligious harmony.
Chairman of Jos North Local Government, J.K Chris, advocated for grassroots leadership to drive development at the local level.
