PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY SLICS LAUNCH AMIDS CHEERS

A new Cooperative Society,has emerged at the Plateau state University,Bokkos.

The Inauguration of the Cooperative society, took place at the University’s Faculty of Social Science Auditorium came with full of expectations and enthusiasm among the staff.

Chairman of the occasion,Mr. Yakubu .F Ayuba,who is the Registrar of the University and was represented by the Deputy Registrar Establishment, Mr Bindip Gangir congratulated the PLASU SLICS for the bold step and further discourages unnecessary competitions among the Cooperators.

In his presentation during the occasion, Dr. Bernard Alkali, who is the Head of Department Accounting, University of Jos, spoke on the theme Building purpose driven future through Cooperative Society.

He encourage all staff to plan for their future and retirement, what you need at old age is peace therefore,you cannot rely only on salaries ,there is need for diversification in order to avoid mental disorder. As civil servants,there is need for action plans,review and monitor your future.

The guest Speaker further advice the participants to inculcate the habit of savings amidst economic hardship in the country.

Inaugurating the Cooperative Society,

Mrs Eliana Datong,Director of Cooperative Societies,Ministry of Commerce and Industries. Said the Cooperative should operate with shares,have a reserve and also educational fund.

Further advice the cooperative to register with the Plateau State Cooperative Financing Agency.

She pray that the cooperative will grow like a palm tree.

delivering his speech, the Interim President of the Cooperative Society Mr. Tony Ngwen Lat pledged to work tirelessly to serve the members and uphold the values of cooperation.

The President, Lat said his priority will be to ensure that the cooperative society reach and maintain a strong and all inclusive platform for members to survived.

Let us build a bright future for ourselves,our families and our Communities.

He also used the opportunity and appreciates the University’s Management under the Leadership of the Acting Vice Chancellor,Professor Shedrack Gaya Best for accepting the Cooperative’s proposal to run the cooperative society.

Highlights of the event was goodwill messages from Dignitaries that witnessed the Occasion includes. Dr. Anna Faka,Former Bursar of the University,The University’s Bursar ,Mr. Lawrence Kerekkum, President of the Plateau State Federation of Cooperative Societies, Mrs Hannatu Meshak among others.
