Female traditional chieftaincy title holders in Nigeria have been urged to demonstrate noble virtues worthy of royalty and serve as exemplary role models within their communities.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Sarauniyar Women Development Initiative (SWDI) Wazobia Reality Worldwide, Her Royal Highness, Queen Ambassador Dr. Aisha Yerima Isa, made the call during a meeting of female traditional chieftaincy title holders from across the country. The event was held at Sandralia Hotel, Jabi District, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Addressing members of the initiative, Queen Ambassador Aisha Yerima Isa urged Queen Mothers under the Sarauniyar Women Development Initiative to uphold decency, unquestionable integrity, compassion, and humanitarian values in their interactions with people in their respective communities. She noted that these qualities are essential for promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
She further called on governments at all levels to support female traditional title holders under the Sarauniyar Women Development Initiative, emphasizing that women’s economic empowerment and greater inclusion in leadership and governance are critical to Nigeria’s rapid development.
Queen Ambassador Aisha Yerima Isa also appealed to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to expedite action on the passage of the Reserved Seats Bill for women at the National Assembly. She described the bill as a significant step toward enhancing women’s political participation, noting that she has consistently advocated for its passage over the years.
In separate goodwill messages, HRH Fadila Isa Muhammad, the Sarauniyar Hasken Matan Wazobia, HRH Princess Ada Okeke Amam Adakaiboya, Sarauniyar Wazobia South-West, and other Queen Mothers paid glowing tributes to Ambassador Dr. Aisha Yerima Isa, describing her in glowing terms.
They commended her visionary and result-oriented leadership, humility, unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, and humanitarian service. They described her as an inspirational leader whose dedication continues to distinguish her within traditional institutions and beyond. The Queen Mothers also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the vision and objectives of the Sarauniyar Women Development Initiative in advancing peace, women’s empowerment, and national development.
Earlier in her opening remarks, Queen Ambassador Aisha Yerima Isa recounted that her journey into royalty began in 2013, when her humanitarian services and exemplary virtues, which she attributed to the grace of Almighty Allah, attracted the attention of the Sarki Hausawa of Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.
She explained that she was initially considered for the title of Gimbiyar Matan Arewa Eti-Osa. However, because she would have been the first woman to receive such a traditional title, wider consultations were undertaken with the Arewa Council of Chiefs in the South-West. Following those consultations, it was unanimously decided that she should instead be crowned the Arewa Queen Mother of the entire South-West, a decision she said was based on her outstanding leadership qualities, humanitarian service, and exemplary character.
Speaking on her title as Queen Mother of Wazobia Worldwide, Queen Ambassador Aisha Yerima Isa explained that the honour was bestowed upon her by a Nigerian in the diaspora who was impressed by her leadership of the Sarauniyar Women Development Initiative. According to her, the recognition followed one of the organization’s programmes during which deserving Nigerian women were honoured with traditional titles.
She added that her philanthropic activities, carried out without regard to religion, ethnicity, or regional affiliation, also contributed to the recognition, adding that she has crowned over 45 Women as Queen Mothers fro from across Nigeria.
The meeting brought together female traditional title holders from different parts of Nigeria to strengthen collaboration, promote women’s leadership, and reaffirm their commitment to Peace building, humanitarian service, and community development across the country.
