RE: ALLEGE ATTACK ON FULANI HERDSMAN BY ALH. TAUFIQ ISA

It has come to the notice of the general public by an unknown person who don’t reside in the Local Government, circulating a recorded video of himself alleging the Council Chairman of Ijumu Local Government,Hon. Taufiq Isa attacking a fulani herder. For all those who saw the video, all said was a pit of lies and just a figment of their imagination.

Ordinarily,we wouldn’t have respond to the lies but to set the record straight, On the 24th October, 2023. There was an attack on farmers by fulani herders at Odokoro Gbede, where three herders after destroying farms attacked the farmer who challenged the act. He was matcheted to a point of death and hands almost cut off. Before been rescued by the professional/local security set up by the Executive Chairman. One of the three herder was arrested,he made attempt to run away with the other two when the vigilantes had no option left than to shot him at the leg.

The circulated video is a calculated and sponsored attack by uninformed elements to disrupt the existing peace the Local Government is enjoying for the past few years, as a result of the security architecture set up by Council Chairman.

It is also known by security agencies in the Local Government that this particular herder is a notorious one for that matter, who has been ravaging farms across the area where he dwelled. He has been reported countless times to the relevant authorities.

However, despite his incessant attack on farmers,The Council chairman has been paying damages to Tiv, Ebira,Bassa farmers in order to avoid clashes. The Council Chairman when gotten the security report, immediately ordered the two of them ( attacker and attacked) to be rushed to the hospital where about three hundred thousands naira has been spent in treating them.

For the unknown element making attempt to mislead the public,The situation has been calmed for the past three days and no form of security threat in the Local Government.

Furthermore, For alleging the Council Chairman of attack is likened to the words of a drunkard, The Man who has done much in terms of security to his people than his contemporaries in the country. Recalled, In the year 2021,He set up a security trust fund and empowered them to work alongside with their traditional rulers to map out strategies to tackle criminals. Upon assuming office, vehicles were purchased, motorcycles was distributed to security agencies and logistics is always provided to enhance their efficiency in tackling criminality.

Note: Attached are pictures of the farmer attacked.
