Rep. Leke Abejide, Other Members of the House Committee on Customs & Excise on International Retreat and Capacity Building Workshop.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Customs & Excise, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has led the members of the committee at the first International Retreat and Capacity Building Workshop on the theme, Advancing Legislative Oversight in Customs and Excise.
The retreat was attended by members of the committee, as it stands out as one of its kind, which defines the future of customs administration and the quality of its people.
Hon.Leke Abejide, during the capacity building workshop, disclosed that the retreat and training were designed to help the members of the committee deepen their understanding of what Customs entails, especially to enlighten members on how to further carry out their Constitutional roles, Oversight, and other Legislative reforms.
“The training is designed to provide greater opportunity to reflect on the critical roles of the Nigeria Customs Service in the areas of Revenue generation, Trade facilitation, Economic growth, and Border security”.
Some of the major highlights of the retreat are getting the members familiar with some of the global practices and legislative reforms on border governance, digital transformation, technology, and an adaptable workforce in Customs.
The members of the House Committee on Customs & Excise, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide remains committed to working with the Nigerian Customs Service and other stakeholders to bring about advanced legislation and reforms to enable the Service to function effectively, to place the NCS on a competitive pedestal globally through increased revenue generation, economic growth, and support innovations that will advance the current gains of the Service.
