Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide Emerges “Most Outstanding Lawmaker on Rural Infrastructure Development and Community Development Service Award 2026”

The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has emerged winner of the “MOST OUTSTANDING LAWMAKER ON RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE AWARD 2026” by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The award recognises Hon. Abejide’s consistent commitment to bringing government presence to rural communities through the provision of roads, water, electricity, schools, health centres, and empowerment programmes across Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopa-Muro Local Government Areas.
Over the years, the lawmaker has been credited with facilitating rural road projects, solar-powered boreholes, classroom blocks, ICT centres, and youth/women empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the standard of living at the grassroots.

Announcing the honour, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Hon. Abejide was nominated for his track record of impactful representation and dedication to community development.
“Hon. Leke Abejide has distinguished himself as a lawmaker who understands the needs of the people. His investments in rural infrastructure and community service have brought visible development to Yagba Federal Constituency. He is truly deserving of this recognition,” Chief Femi stated.
The award will be presented on Wednesday, 19th August, 2026 at 5:00pm during the Democracy Newsline Newspaper 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame holding at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
The event marks the 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria and is themed: “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigeria Experience.”
A keynote address will be delivered by Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State.
Chairperson of the occasion is Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, Veteran Broadcaster.
Special Guest of Honour is Hon. Mohammed Idris, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Patron is HRH Akogun Isiaq Ajibola, Former MD/CEO, Daily Trust Limited.
Grand Patron is Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, Former Member, Federal House of Representatives.
