Amongst the dignitaries expected at this year’s Nigerian Post Newspaper Kogi @ 34 Lecture & Awards, is Sen. Sunday Karimi, Representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Arch. Salman Idris, Representing Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representative as well as the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Nwuchiola Ojoma Egwaba.

All is now set for the The Nigerian Post Newspaper public Lecture & Gold Prize Award to mark the 34 years anniversary of the State creation.

The theme for this year’s public lecture is: “Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity, Economic transformation: The Kogi State Experiment”.

This years event is scheduled to take place at the NUT Guest House Lokoja on August 19, 2025 at 10:00am. The statement regrets the change of venue from EdgeDrive Hotel.

The Kogi State Governor, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.

His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, the Minister for Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu Abubakar alongside other very important personalities within and outside Kogi State will also serve as Guests of Honour at the event.

The 2025 public lecture will be delivered by Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, former Minister of State, Labour and Employment.

His Royal Majesty, the Ohimegye Igu Kingdom, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu would serve as the Royal father of the day.

Speakers at the event will include; Prof. Marietu Tenuche, Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba and Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi, VC FUL.

The 2025 edition of the public lecture, “aims to celebrate and critically examine the creation of Kogi State 34 years after, by discussing, “Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity, Economic transformation: The Kogi State Experiment”, as cardinal to future prospects and possibilities for a prosperous State.

According to a statement by the Publisher of  THE NIGERIAN POST, Mr. Abu Michael, this year’s event will honour some distinguished personalities who have contributed to the development of the State.

Some of the individuals for the Gold Prize Award include:

(1) Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Former Governor of Kogi State. – Builder of Modern Kogi Award.

(2) Rt. Umar Aliyu Umar, Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly – Outstanding Legislative Leadership Award.

(3) Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, Former Minister for State, Labour and Employment.

(4) Prince Shaibu Audu, Minister of Steel Development – Steel Industry Icon Award.

(5) Sen. Sunday Karimi, Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District. – Legislator of Distinction.

(6) Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, Member Representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency. – Community Service, Outstanding Servant Award Award.

(7) Arc. Salmon Idris, Member, Representing Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency –
Outstanding Legislative Service Award.

(8) Rt. Hon. Nwuchiola Ojoma Egwaba
Kogi Deputy Speaker-
Most Outstanding Female Lawmaker of the Year Award

(16) Edward Meseko, Business Tycoon – Leadership in Community Development Award.

(17) Princess Hajia Nana Hawa Yusuf DG Kogi Broadcasting Corporation – Effective Service Delivery/Excellence in Radio Broadcasting Award

(18) Kogi State Health Insurance Agency – Excellence in Health Insurance Award.

(19) Prof. Marietu Ohinene Tenuche, VC PAAU – Transformational Leadership Award

(20) Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi, VC FUL. – Outstanding Vice-Chancellor Award.

(21) Prof. Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi, Pioneer Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State.- Bag Distinguished Service Award.

“Our 2025 Awardees are persons who made the critical differences in the discharge of their duties, with uncommon zeal and commitment to the common good of the citizens and the State in particular,” the statement read.
