PRESS STATEMENT CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

7th April 2026.

Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, extends his deepest condolences to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Idris Nasiru Kauran Gwandu; the Distinguished Senators from Kebbi State; Honourable Members of the Kebbi State House of Assembly; Honourable Members of the House of Representatives from Kebbi State at the National Assembly; His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zuru, Sunusi Minkaila Sami III; as well as the entire good people of Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State over the tragic passing of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru.

The death of Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, which occurred on Monday night in an Egyptian hospital after a period of illness, came as a rude shock and a deeply painful loss. His passing has cast a shadow of grief across Kebbi State and beyond, marking the end of a life devoted to service, leadership, and the advancement of democratic governance.

Senator Maidoki noted that the late Speaker was widely regarded as a stabilizing pillar within the legislative arm of government, whose wisdom, experience, and calm disposition helped foster unity, cooperation, and effective lawmaking. Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated uncommon dedication to the welfare of the people, legislative excellence, and the strengthening of democratic institutions in Kebbi State.

He further described Rt. Hon. Zuru as a bridge-builder and consensus-driven leader who earned the respect of colleagues across political, ethnic, and social divides. His legacy is reflected not only in the laws enacted under his leadership but also in the peace, maturity, and institutional stability he nurtured within the Assembly.

“This painful loss is not only for Kebbi State but for Nigeria as a whole. Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru was a man of integrity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the service of his people. His passing is indeed a monumental loss,” Senator Maidoki stated.

The Senator also highlighted the late Speaker’s enduring commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance, noting that his contributions will continue to resonate for years to come. He emphasized that the vacuum created by his demise will be deeply felt within the political and legislative community.

Senator Maidoki extends heartfelt sympathies to the immediate family, friends, political associates, and loved ones of the late Speaker, praying that Almighty Allah grants them the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

He equally commiserates with the Government and people of Kebbi State, especially Governor Dr. Idris Nasiru Kauran Gwandu, over the loss of a trusted ally, dependable leader, and devoted member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He urges the people of Kebbi State and the entire Zuru Emirate to remain united and take solace in the remarkable life and enduring legacy of service left behind by the late Speaker.

Senator Maidoki prays that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgives the shortcomings of the departed, rewards his good deeds abundantly, and grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
