Late Kogi Governor’s Aide To Be Laid to Rest on Friday 10th April 2026
The remains of Hon. Aboyede Ola Odofin Bello, the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Grassroots Mobilization is to be committed to mother earth on Friday 10th April, 2026.
Hon. Boye as fondly called passed away on March 8th, 2026 at the age of 64.
According to a burial arrangement by the Planning Committee on behalf of the Family and Committee of Friends, laying in State holds at his residence, near Pioneer Hotel, Ayetoro Gbede on Thursday 9th April 2026 to be followed by Christian Wake same venue and same day.

Burial and Thanksgiving service take place the following day at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church Ayetoro Gbede, while interment holds immediately.
Reception will take place thereafter Open Field, No 2 Primary School, Ayetoro Gbede.
Biography of Late Hon. Aboyede Ola Odofin Bello
Late Hon. Aboyede Ola Odofin Bello was a distinguished grassroots politician, mobiliser, and community leader whose life was marked by service, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the people. Born on August 27, 1962, into the illustrious family of Late Chief L. O. Bello, he inherited a legacy of honour, leadership, and community commitment that shaped his lifelong pursuit of public service.
He began his early education in Ayetoro Gbede, where he attended Number 2 Primary School and later KDE Number 1 Primary School, laying the foundation for his academic and personal development. He proceeded to Edide Comprehensive School in Kwara State and Community High School, Ayetoro Gbede, for his secondary education. In his quest for further knowledge, he attended Kwara State Polytechnic, where he studied a Diploma programme, that equipped him with the skills and exposure that would later influence his organisational and political engagements.
Hon. Aboyede Ola Bello’s political journey began with his first political baptism as Personal Assistant to Barr. John Ajewole, who served as Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the aborted Third Republic. This early exposure to governance and grassroots politics provided him with deep insight into leadership, public administration, and political mobilisation.
Building on this foundation, he progressed into broader political networks, becoming an active and influential member of the political machinery of Prince Olusola Akanmode. His political trajectory further saw him align and work closely with Senator Smart Adeyemi, where he expanded his reach and strengthened his influence across Kogi State politics. In his later years, he became a key ally and mobiliser for Hon. Taofeek Isah, the immediate past Chairman of Ijumu Local Government and ALGON Chairman, where he played vital roles in political coordination and grassroots engagement.
Hon Boye was a highly committed party man. He was a staunch member and respected leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ayetoro Gbede Ward 2. His leadership at the ward level further demonstrated his deep-rooted connection to the grassroots and his unwavering dedication to party ideals and community development.
Until his passing, Hon. Aboyede Ola Bello served as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Grassroots Mobilization to the Executive Governor of Kogi State. In this capacity, he remained a critical link between government and the people, ensuring that policies and programmes resonated at the grassroots level. He was widely regarded as a bridge between the political class and the masses, a role he performed with passion, dedication, and remarkable effectiveness.
A man of strong principles and character, Hon. Aboyede Ola Bello was known for his integrity, honesty, and unwavering loyalty. He was fearless in expressing his convictions and was respected for always standing by his word. His blunt yet sincere approach earned him the trust of political associates and community members alike. Once he committed to a cause or an individual, he remained steadfast, making him a dependable ally and a formidable political force.
Fondly called “Boye,” he was a lover of people and a unifier. His home was a hub of social interaction, where he readily welcomed neighbours, young and old, reflecting his accommodating and generous spirit.
He was deeply compassionate and committed to social welfare. Even within his limited capacity, he supported widows, contributed to the education, healthcare, and feeding of many, and consistently used his network to uplift others. His kindness transcended political affiliations, and his dedication to family and community life was exceptional.
Hon Boye was a devoted Christian, and a committed member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, where he quietly fellowship and worship his Maker through service to humanity, and love for others.
Hon. Aboyede Ola Odofin Bello was happily married to Mrs Rosemary Ifejola Bello and is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Rebecca Bello, eight children (biological and foster), and two grandchildren, who carry forward his legacy of strength, service, and integrity.
Though his passing has left a profound void in his family, community, and the political landscape of Ijumu and Kogi State at large, his legacy endures. He lived a life of purpose, truly, he came, he served, he inspired, and he will never be forgotten. His contributions to grassroots mobilisation, community development, and political leadership remain a lasting testament to a life well lived.
