Senator Karimi Holds Town Hall Meeting for Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Constituents

Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Steven Sunday Karimi, on Thursday held a town hall meeting with stakeholders and constituents from Kabba/Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency as part of his ongoing engagement with the people of the senatorial district.
The meeting, held at 95 Degree Event Center in Kabba, was attended by APC leaders, former lawmakers, traditional representatives, women and youth leaders, stakeholders and other party members from the two local government areas.

Among those present were the APC leader in Kabba/Bunu, Elder Ben Olowodola, former council chairman, Moses Oluruleke; former APC leader, Elder Samuel Meseko and Alhaji Salawudeen Ganiyu aka Irukutu Yagba; representative of the Obaro of Kabba, Chief Adegbega; retired Colonel Abayomi Dare; Commissioner with NPC, Hon. Yori Afolabi; Kabba/Bunu Council, Hon Obaromi Comfort and her counterpart in Ijumu; former Assembly Members, Hon Stephen Adekunle, Hon Adams Olorunmo, Chief Cornelius Olowo, and other party leaders.
Speaking at the meeting, Elder Olowodola said the purpose of the gathering was to provide an opportunity for constituents to interact with Senator Karimi and discuss issues affecting the people.
The representative of the Obaro of Kabba, Chief Adegboyega Aka, in his goodwill message, prayed for Senator Karimi and other APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Retired Colonel Dayo Abayomi commended Senator Karimi, saying the senator deserved a second term in office.
He urged APC members in the area to remain united and vote massively for all APC candidates during the elections.
A representative of Ijumu Local Government said the people of the area had resolved to support Senator Karimi for another term.
Also speaking, former Kabba/Bunu council chairman, Moses Oluruleke, reaffirmed his support for the senator and urged the electorate to support his re-election.
Other APC leaders, stakeholders and women leaders, including Fehinti Dada, also expressed support for the senator.
Dada recalled Senator Karimi’s role during the marriage of her daughter while he was in the house of Representatives, noting that the senator supported the family despite the fact that he did not vote for Karimi during his election to the House of Representatives.
The APC youth leader in Kabba/Bunu, Hon Oyenibi Omojola aka Akon described those at the meeting as “grassrooters”, expressing confidence that they would deliver Senator Karimi and President Tinubu in the forthcoming elections.
Elder Samuel Meseko congratulated Karimi on his victory at the party primary, saying the support of Elder Olowodola and other APC leaders would strengthen his chances of winning the election.
The meeting focused largely on party unity, peaceful coexistence and strengthening cooperation among APC members in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu and the wider Kogi West Senatorial District.
Responding, Senator Karimi said elections were won and lost at the grassroots, stressing the importance of maintaining regular contact with constituents.
“I am not out to fight. I am out to defend the people of my constituency. I am not fighting the governor or any leader of APC,” he said.
Karimi explained that the town hall meetings being organised across the seven local government areas of Kogi West were aimed at promoting unity within the APC and strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
He said his administration in the Senate had attracted various interventions to Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu, particularly in infrastructures in education sector, provision of solar-powered water boreholes, empowerment programmes for cooperative societies, scholarship for students, solar Street lights.
The senator also highlighted his intervention on the Kabba-Ilorin road, including efforts involving about N2 billion, as part of measures to improve infrastructure and ease transportation within the area.
He assured constituents that he would continue to prioritize projects and programmes capable of improving the welfare and economic wellbeing of the people of Kogi West.
The Kabba/Bunu-Ijumu meeting is part of Senator Karimi’s ongoing town hall engagements across the seven local government areas of Kogi West Senatorial District.
