The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, has expressed deep sympathy with the people of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area following the recent devastating flood disaster in Kabba metropolis.
The flood has wreaked havoc on lives, property, and livelihoods across several communities, damaging over 500 homes, destroying places of worship, and resulting in the loss of more than 1,500 domestic animals.
In his message, Senator Karimi described the flood incident as a tragic and painful event that demands immediate and long-term response from all levels of government and relevant agencies.

Senator Karimi reassured the affected residents that he is engaging relevant federal ministries and agencies, including NEMA and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, to secure emergency relief, reconstruction support, and preventive infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for collaboration among local authorities, traditional institutions, and stakeholders to respond to the disaster.
As a lawmaker, Senator Karimi pledged to leverage his position in the National Assembly to push for policies and funding that will support the rehabilitation of victims and rebuilding of infrastructure, especially in vulnerable communities.
