In the wake of the recent flood disaster that struck several communities in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, grassroots mobilizer and community developer, Hon. Owoniyi Stephen Femi (Omoga), has extended his deep sympathy to all affected residents, describing the incident as “a tragedy that calls for both compassion and decisive action.”
The disaster, which has displaced hundreds of families, destroyed homes, churches, and farmlands, and claimed the lives of over 1,500 domestic animals, has left the people of Kabba/Bunu facing untold hardship and emotional trauma.
Hon. Femi Omoga expressed particular concern for vulnerable victims, including elderly citizens, children, and low-income households, who are now struggling to rebuild their lives from the ruins of this unfortunate event.
> “My heart goes out to every household affected by this devastating flood,” he said. “As someone deeply connected to the grassroots, I understand the weight of this tragedy on our communities. I want to assure you that you are not alone during this difficult time.”
Hon. Omoga called for urgent intervention from government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and philanthropic individuals, urging them to channel relief materials and rehabilitation support to the most affected areas without delay.
He also emphasized the need for long-term environmental solutions, including the construction of proper drainage systems, reforestation, and flood management infrastructure, in order to prevent a recurrence of such disasters in the future.
> “We must move beyond reactive responses to proactive planning,” he stated. “This is a wake-up call to prioritize community safety and environmental sustainability.”
He further pledged his personal commitment to advocate for affected communities and to support ongoing efforts toward their recovery.
> “Let us come together as one united Kabba/Bunu family. In times like this, our strength lies in our compassion, our unity, and our resolve to rebuild,” Hon. Omoga concluded.
