Senator Sunday Steve Karimi Distances Self from Eyiwumi Omolade Tobi’s Divisive Post Against Kabba, Reaffirms Commitment to Unity
By Akin Fanodun-Kabba
The attention of the public has been drawn to a misleading and divisive social media post allegedly made by one Eyiwumi Omolade Tobi, in which Kabba was wrongly described as a community fostering disunity within Okunland. This claim is not only unfounded but also capable of creating unnecessary tension among peace-loving people.
In a direct conversation with Distinguished Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, he firmly disassociated himself from the said publication and any narrative intended to create discord among the people of Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government, Kogi West, and Kogi State at large.
The Senator made it clear that he has no knowledge of the said post and did not, in any way, authorize or support such a statement. He further disclosed that he has already communicated with the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government, Hon. Barr. Dare Zaccheaus, to address the situation and reinforce the need for unity and calm.
Addressing the issue of a photograph circulating online, the Senator clarified that he does not know the individual personally, noting that as a public figure, it is common for people to take pictures with him without any formal relationship or endorsement.
He also assured that necessary steps are being taken to have the offensive post removed, as it does not reflect his values, principles, or long-standing commitment to peace and cohesion within Okunland.
Senator Karimi reiterated his unwavering love, respect, and passion for Kabba and the entire Okun community, emphasizing that his dedication to their unity and development remains strong and unquestionable.
It is therefore important to call on the individual responsible to tender an unreserved public apology on the same platform where the statement was made, in order to correct the wrong impression already created.
Members of the public are urged to disregard the said post in its entirety and remain vigilant against attempts by any individual or group seeking to incite disunity. Kabba remains a symbol of pride, heritage, and unity, and its reputation must be protected at all times.
All sons and daughters of Okunland are encouraged to continue fostering peace, mutual respect, and collective progress, while sustaining their support for credible leadership that prioritizes unity and development.
