The attention of concerned stakeholders in Kano politics has been drawn to a publication credited to one Hafizu Idris, writing under the guise of a so-called group, “Emerging Progressive Leaders Forum (EPLF).”
Ordinarily, such a publication would not deserve a response, given its weak foundation and questionable origin. However, in the interest of truth and to prevent the public from being misled, it has become necessary to set the record straight.
First and foremost, the so-called EPLF is, to the best knowledge of serious political actors in Kano, a non-existent entity with no verifiable structure, leadership credibility, or political footprint. It is nothing more than a shadowy platform often used to push sponsored narratives aimed at causing confusion within the ranks of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State.
The attempt by Hafizu Idris to blame the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, for alleged defections and internal party issues is not only misleading but also a desperate effort to rewrite political realities.
Distinguished Senator Barau Jibrin remains one of the most consistent and committed pillars of the APC in Kano State and beyond. His contributions to party growth, stability, and electoral success are well documented and widely acknowledged by genuine stakeholders.
The claim that he is responsible for the political decisions of Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is both illogical and unfounded. Political choices, including party alignment, are personal decisions made by individuals based on their convictions and interests. Attempting to shift responsibility to Senator Barau is simply mischief.
It is also important to emphasize that Dr. Gawuna conducted himself with dignity throughout the 2023 electoral process. His well-known stance—entrusting his political fate to Almighty Allah and prioritizing the peace and progress of Kano State—clearly reflects a man guided by principle, not coercion or manipulation.
Furthermore, the allegations regarding interference in the potential appointment of Murtala Sule Garo are speculative at best. Governance decisions, particularly those concerning appointments, remain the prerogative of the sitting governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, who operates within the framework of consultation and constitutional authority.
Dragging Senator Barau into such matters without credible evidence only exposes the weakness of the narrative being pushed.
It is becoming increasingly clear that individuals hiding behind faceless groups are attempting to create artificial divisions within the APC. These tactics—rooted in propaganda and political bitterness—will not succeed.
Kano politics is far more sophisticated than the sponsors of such publications assume.
Let it be clearly stated: unity, discipline, and respect for leadership remain the guiding principles of the APC in Kano. No amount of sponsored write-ups or anonymous accusations can undermine the solid foundation built by committed party leaders and loyal members.
In conclusion, we advise Hafizu Idris and his sponsors to desist from spreading unverified claims and engaging in activities capable of heating up the political atmosphere unnecessarily. Constructive engagement—not anonymous attacks—is the path to meaningful political discourse.
The people of Kano deserve truth, not manufactured narratives.
If you want, I can make it more aggressive, shorter, or tailor it to sound more like a press release, speech, or social media post.
