TOSIN TAFU EULOGISES ODODO’S HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE, COMMENDS CMD HMB FOR PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP

In every society, the true measure of leadership is not only in the promises made, but in the positive impact of government policies and programmes on the lives of the people.

It is against this background that I wish to commend the healthcare initiatives of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, and the renewed attention being given to improving healthcare delivery across the state.

Healthcare is one sector that directly affects every family, regardless of political affiliation, social status or location. It therefore requires genuine commitment, strategic investment, effective administration and strong political will.

The direction of the Ododo administration in the health sector is worthy of recognition because a government that prioritises the health and wellbeing of its citizens is investing directly in the future of the state.

The people of Kogi State deserve a healthcare system that is accessible, responsive, efficient and capable of meeting their needs.

The initiatives of the present administration demonstrate an understanding of this responsibility and a willingness to strengthen the structures required to deliver quality healthcare to our people. While there is still much work to be done, it is important that we acknowledge progress whenever and wherever we see it.

I particularly commend the Chief Medical Director of the Kogi State Hospitals Management Board, Dr Olayemi Ayo alongside the management and dedicated healthcare professionals under the Board, for their efforts in translating government’s vision into practical service delivery.

Leadership within the healthcare sector comes with enormous responsibility. It requires coordination, professionalism, accountability, commitment and the ability to respond to the realities confronting healthcare institutions.

The efforts being made by the CMD to complement the Governor’s vision therefore deserve commendation and encouragement.

Politics should never make us blind to development. We may disagree politically, belong to different camps or have different opinions about government, but when policies and initiatives are positively impacting the lives of our people, responsible citizens should have the courage to acknowledge them.

Constructive criticism is an essential part of democracy, but so is appreciation for genuine progress.

As stakeholders and citizens, our collective responsibility should be to encourage the government to do more, demand accountability where necessary and support initiatives that improve the wellbeing of the people.

The healthcare sector must continue to receive attention in the areas of infrastructure, medical equipment, manpower development, staff welfare, primary healthcare, accessibility and quality service delivery, particularly for people living in rural communities.

The achievements being recorded should therefore be regarded not as the end of the journey, but as a foundation for greater accomplishments. Governor Ododo should remain encouraged to sustain the momentum, while the Hospitals Management Board and healthcare professionals should continue to translate policy direction into meaningful results that ordinary Kogites can feel.

At a time when political narratives can easily overshadow reality, we must be willing to speak when we see positive developments. Leadership should be judged not merely by political statements but by its ability to create tangible improvements in the lives of citizens. Where lives are being touched, where institutions are being strengthened and where healthcare delivery is receiving meaningful attention, such efforts deserve recognition.

I therefore commend His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in Kogi State, and I equally applaud the Chief Medical Director of the Kogi State Hospitals Management Board for providing purposeful leadership and supporting the administration’s healthcare agenda.

The journey is still ongoing, and there is undoubtedly more to be done, but the direction is encouraging. What Kogi needs at this point is continuity, commitment, constructive engagement and a shared determination to build a healthcare system that works for everyone.

Ultimately, political differences will come and go, but the health of our people remains permanent. When government invests in healthcare, it invests in human capital; when healthcare improves, productivity increases; and when the people are healthy, the entire state becomes stronger.

A healthier Kogi is a stronger Kogi, and a stronger Kogi is the Kogi we all desire.
