Hon. Salman Idris Mourns Eleta of Iyara, Oba Jacob Babatunde Meduteni, Describes His Death as a Great Loss.
The Member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Salman Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara Land, Oba (Engr.) Jacob Babatunde Meduteni, who reportedly passed away at the age of 75.
In a condolence message, Hon. Salman Idris described the late monarch as a respected traditional ruler and distinguished community leader whose contributions to the development of Iyara, Ijumu and the wider Okunland will be remembered.
He noted that before ascending the throne in 2023, Oba Meduteni had a distinguished career in engineering and corporate management, including his service as a former Chief Executive Officer of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) and Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).

Hon. Salman Idris said the monarch’s death is a painful loss to the people of Iyara and the entire Ijumu community, particularly coming at a time when his leadership and wisdom were still greatly needed. He urged the people of Iyara to take solace in the impactful life he lived and the legacy he left behind.
He commiserated with the family of the late monarch, the Iyara community and the Ijumu traditional council, praying that God Almighty will grant Oba Jacob Babatunde Meduteni eternal rest and give his family and the people of Iyara the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
