US Exchange Alumni Seeks Partnership With Kogi Education Ministry To Empower Women In ICT

Lokoja, November 16, 2023

The US Exchange Alumni, Kogi chapter, has expressed its readiness to partner with Kogi State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, to empower women on the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT).

The President of the Alumni, Prof. Abel Joseph, disclosed this when he led members of the Alumni, to a courtesy visit to the state’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB.

In his remarks, Prof. Joseph, said the essence of the visit was to create awareness on their Alumni and synergise with the Ministry.

He explained that the US Exchange Alumni was willing to partner with the ministry to empower women in the areas such as the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT), operation of computer and effective use of Internet system.

“To build the confidence of women in using ICT, reduction of digital divide between males and females in the civil service;

“To organise a workshop to educate women on the use of computer and ICT,” Joseph said.

Responding, the Commissioner appreciated members of the Alumni for the visit and their desire to partner and synergise with the Ministry.

Jones assured that the ministry was ready to partner with the Alumni in the provision of the human resources needed to ensure the success of their objectives.

Other dignitaries at the meeting were the Director for Project Monitoring and Mobilization of the Alumni, Prof. Ofure Aito; the Alumni Secretary, Hajia Khadijat Abubakar Isa; the Director Educational Planning, Research and Statistics of the Ministry of Education Dr Animoku Ahman; and Mallam Abdul Baba the Project Officer Planning and Advocacy.
