USOSA Executives Congratulate IOI Over Maiden AGM, Urge Sustained Unity
The National body of the Alumni of Unity Schools in Nigeria, under the auspices of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), has commended the Abuja Chapter of the Alumnae of Federal Government Girls’ College, Ikot Obio Itong (FGGC IOI), for successfully hosting its maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The well-attended event, held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Exclusive Hotel, Wuye, Abuja, brought together IOI alumnae alongside the national executives of USOSA. The meeting, themed “Leveling Up: Celebrating the Past, Building the Present, Inspiring the Future”, was described as a landmark for the young chapter.
In his remarks, the General President of USOSA, Michael Mogaji, applauded the Abuja Chapter of FGGC IOI for dedicating time, resources, and commitment to organising such a well-coordinated and high-profile gathering. He said the success of the AGM reflected the members’ dedication to sustaining the love, bond, and unity that were built during their formative years, urging them to “keep the fire burning.”
Also speaking, the Global President of FGGC Gboko Alumnae, Lady Chide Omali, hailed the unity and spirit of togetherness demonstrated by the IOI Abuja Chapter despite its infancy. Describing their efforts as laudable, she noted, “It’s so heartwarming that the set of 1994 was able to put this together. It shows they are headed in the right direction.” She encouraged the chapter to expand its network by collaborating with other unity schools’ alumnae and USOSA for partnerships, guidance, and support when needed.
In her goodwill message, the CTC Chairperson of FGGC Yola Class of 1988, Anthonia Atebe Ekah, expressed delight at being part of a celebration rooted in love, unity, and shared memories. She stressed that the AGM was a testament to the members’ commitment to cherishing their bond despite coming from diverse backgrounds.
She urged the group to remain steadfast in appreciating the unity and love that have held them together from an early stage in life.
