Yagba West LGA Residents Live in Fear, No Celebration Planned – Prince Friday Ogungbemi
A press statement by Prince Friday Ogungbemi has revealed the dire situation in Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State, where residents are gripped by palpable fear due to insecurity.
The community is skipping traditional year-end celebrations, with a somber mood settling in.
Ogungbemi criticized the government’s handling of the situation, alleging that former Governor Yahaya Bello’s actions compromised the region’s safety for personal ambition.
“Kogi State used to be a safe haven until Yahaya Bello’s failed Presidential bid put us in this mess,” he said.
Residents are anxious, with communities deserted by evening due to fears of attacks by armed groups.
Ogungbemi called for urgent government action, suggesting that those negotiating with armed elements be labeled terrorists and arrested.
He also demanded accountability from those in power, including the removal of individuals with ties to extremist groups from positions of authority.
The statement expressed frustration and concern over the situation, with Ogungbemi warning that the government must act swiftly to prevent further escalation.
