2027 Elections: Okun Stakeholders Rally Behind President Tinubu’s Reelection Bid, Brainstorm Security Solutions
Stakeholders from Okunland in Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State, comprising members of the All Progressives Congress, have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu come 2027.
This declaration was made during a meeting held at the Harris Hotel in Abuja’s Wuye district, where the stakeholders also brainstormed solutions to combat insecurity in the region.
They pledged to be in the forefront of the project considering the lasting impacts it’s will have on the overall development of the country, particularly in Kogi State and Okunland, stressing that the president meanwell for the people of Nigeria.
They emphasized that working together with the president will go a long way to actualize long standing desires of the people of Okunland in terms of infrastructure development, manpower development and attainment of leadership position at the state level after Governor Usman Ododo would have served out his two term tenure of 8yrs in 2031.
Meanwhile, the meeting, convened by Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), State Security Adviser, is also aimed to find lasting solutions to kidnapping, killing, banditry, and terrorist activities plaguing the area.
The stakeholders adopted key resolutions, including: to ensure a safe environment for residents by introducing community security as the firstline of defense.
They agreed to collaborate with Governor Usman Ododo and also raise resources that will support efforts of the government to tackle the scourge.
Equipping security personnel in each Local Government Area with necessary tools was another area to strengthen the security architecture of the zone while committees will be set up to drive the platform’s activities and implement resolutions with other organizations in the zone.
The stakeholders, led by Otunba Lanre Ipinmisho, former Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), pledged to work with the current administration in the State and other stakeholders to tackle insecurity.
They aim to promote unity, security, and development in Okunland through collective effort.
These resolutions demonstrate the community leaders’ commitment to creating a safer and more developed community. By working together, they hope to address the region’s pressing issues and improve the lives of residents.
Others at the meeting include, Brigadier General Ipinyomi (rtd), Hon Samuel Aro, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole, former speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, HRH, Alhaj Ishaq Ajibola, Akogun of Ife-Olukotin, former MD, Daily Trust Newspaper, House of Assembly Members, Chairmen from the five local governments, all serving Honourable Commissioners, former House of Assembly members, Special Advisers, senior special assistant, all from Okunland and other stakeholders etc.
