Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday urged all governorship aspirants in Kano State to step aside and allow Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to contest unopposed in the 2027 election..

Ganduje made the call shortly after formally receiving Governor Yusuf into the APC at a colourful ceremony held at the Government House, Kano. He said all political ambitions should be put on hold to enable the governor complete two full tenures in the interest of stability and continuity..

Commending Yusuf for defecting to the ruling party, Ganduje described the move as bold and selfless, noting that it demonstrated the governor’s commitment to putting Kano State above personal or partisan considerations.

“I can categorically tell you that you are going to win the 2027 election with a landslide margin because all those contesting for the same seat have agreed to step aside and let you go for it,” Ganduje declared.

While welcoming Yusuf back to the APC, Ganduje described the governor as a progressive politician whose policies and style of governance align with the party’s ideology, adding that Yusuf now stands as the leader of the APC in Kano State.

He further assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains a unifying national leader who governs without bias, expressing confidence that Governor Yusuf would secure victory in 2027.

Also speaking, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, praised Governor Yusuf for his courageous return to the APC, stressing that the decision was well-considered and permanent.
