2027: Kaduna ADC Governorship Aspirant Muhammad Bello Resigns as Political Realignments Gather Momentum.

KADUNA-The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has recorded a significant political development in Kaduna State following the resignation of one of its leading governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections, Muhammad Bello, popularly known as Mainan Zazzau.
Bello, a former Commissioner for Education in Kaduna State and a respected figure in the state’s political landscape, formally resigned from the party through a letter dated July 21, 2026, bringing an end to his membership of the ADC.

The resignation letter was addressed to the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Dogarawa Ward, Sabon Gari Local Government Area, where Bello is registered as a member.
In the brief letter, Bello announced that his decision to withdraw from the party takes immediate effect.
“This is to let you know of my decision to withdraw my membership of the ADC with immediate effect,” the letter stated.
Although the former commissioner did not disclose the reason behind his resignation, he expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and members for the cooperation and cordial relationship he enjoyed during his time in the ADC.
He described his association with the party as rewarding and mutually beneficial, appreciating members for their support, friendship and political collaboration throughout his membership.
Bello also extended his best wishes to the party, expressing hope that the ADC would continue to succeed in its future political engagements.
Copies of the resignation letter were forwarded to the ADC National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the Kaduna State Executive Committee, and the Sabon Gari Local Government Executive Committee, indicating that the resignation followed the party’s formal procedures.
His resignation comes at a period when political consultations, strategic alliances and party realignments are intensifying across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. Political observers believe the movement of influential politicians among political parties is likely to increase as parties prepare for governorship, National Assembly and presidential contests.
Muhammad Bello’s departure is expected to generate fresh political discussions within Kaduna State, particularly because he had been identified as one of the notable figures seeking the ADC governorship ticket for the 2027 election. His exit may also influence ongoing political calculations within the party and among other political stakeholders in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, Bello has not publicly stated the reasons for leaving the ADC, nor has he announced whether he intends to join another political party or pursue his political ambition through a different platform.
