A Grassroots Powerhouse: Hon. Amodu Abubakar Applauds Hon. Siyaka Adegbenege’s Transformational Mobilisation Across Kogi State

***Bridging Government and the People Through Accountability, Inclusion, Civic Engagement, and Strategic Community Mobilisation

In a glowing tribute to one of Kogi State’s most impactful grassroots mobilisers, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Grassroots Mobilisation, Hon. Amodu Abubakar, has commended the remarkable contributions of Hon. Siyaka Adegbenege, Auditor General for Local Government, describing him as a strategic bridge between government policies and the people at the grassroots.

Hon. Amodu noted that Hon. Adegbenege has continued to distinguish himself as a committed public servant whose innovative grassroots engagement initiatives have significantly strengthened public confidence in governance while promoting accountability, transparency, and community participation across the state.

According to him, the Auditor General has successfully taken governance beyond government offices and directly to the people through a series of highly impactful ward-to-ward sensitization tours. These engagements have enabled direct interactions with Local Government Chairmen, Councilors, traditional rulers, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders, creating a robust platform for educating citizens on government policies, fiscal responsibility, and developmental initiatives.

He emphasized that Hon. Adegbenege’s consistent grassroots presence has played a critical role in deepening public understanding of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration and its unwavering commitment to people-centered governance.

“Hon. Siyaka Adegbenege has demonstrated exceptional leadership by ensuring that the principles of accountability and good governance are not merely discussed in official circles but are communicated directly to communities across the state. His efforts have helped to strengthen trust between government institutions and the people,” Hon. Amodu stated.

The SSA further highlighted Adegbenege’s organization of strategic meetings and stakeholder engagements across various Local Government Areas as a major catalyst for public participation in governance. Through these forums, citizens have been encouraged to embrace and support Governor Ododo’s visionary ‘People First’ agenda, particularly in critical sectors such as security, healthcare delivery, rural infrastructure, and socio-economic development.

He noted that the town hall engagements have created an atmosphere of inclusiveness where community voices are heard, concerns are addressed, and government initiatives are effectively communicated to the grassroots.

Hon. Amodu also praised Adegbenege’s commitment to youth and women empowerment through civic education and mobilization campaigns. These initiatives have encouraged greater political participation, enhanced voter education, and inspired young people and women to take active roles in community development and governance monitoring.

According to him, the establishment and encouragement of community-based monitoring groups have strengthened project oversight at the local level, ensuring that developmental projects deliver maximum value to citizens.

“By empowering youths and women to participate actively in governance, Hon. Adegbenege is helping to build a new generation of informed and responsible citizens who understand their rights and responsibilities in the democratic process,” he added.

One of the most outstanding aspects of Adegbenege’s grassroots engagement strategy, according to Hon. Amodu, is his unwavering advocacy for accountability and transparency in Local Government administration. Through numerous grassroots forums and public enlightenment campaigns, he has consistently emphasized the importance of prudent financial management and responsible utilization of public resources.

His message, which centers on the principle that informed citizens are better positioned to demand quality service delivery, has resonated strongly with communities across Kogi State and has further aligned local governance with the developmental aspirations of the Ododo administration.

Furthermore, Hon. Amodu commended Adegbenege’s role in strengthening the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots level. Through active collaboration with ward executives, party stakeholders, and community leaders, he has contributed immensely to fostering unity, resolving internal disagreements, and enhancing political cohesion within the party.

These efforts, he noted, have not only strengthened the APC’s grassroots machinery but have also positioned the party for greater success in future political engagements and governance initiatives.

Describing Hon. Siyaka Adegbenege as a dependable mobiliser, visionary administrator, and grassroots development advocate, Hon. Amodu maintained that his contributions continue to advance the developmental objectives of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.

He concluded by stating that the Auditor General’s ability to effectively connect government with rural communities has become a model for participatory governance, transparency, and sustainable grassroots development in Kogi State.

“Hon. Siyaka Adegbenege has proven that effective leadership is measured not by proximity to power but by the ability to positively impact lives. His dedication to accountability, community engagement, political mobilization, and people-centered governance remains commendable and worthy of emulation,” Hon. Amodu concluded.
