By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu Democracy Newsline 27th October 2025

Kano — The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, at the weekend graced a dinner organized in honour of newly recruited officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Federal Fire Service at the prestigious Bristol Palace Hotel in Kano.

The event, which brought together distinguished guests, families, and well-wishers, was held to celebrate the achievements of these young officers, all hailing from Kano North Senatorial District, who recently completed their recruitment and training into the nation’s critical security and enforcement agencies.

In his address, Senator Barau congratulated the officers for their successful recruitment and commended their courage and dedication to serve Nigeria. He reminded them that their appointments are not merely jobs but a sacred call to duty — to protect lives, secure property, and uphold justice with integrity, discipline, and commitment.

“Your service represents a noble call — to stand for justice, to protect the weak, and to preserve peace in our nation,” Senator Barau stated. “Always remember that the uniform you wear is a symbol of honour and trust, and you must justify that trust through professionalism and selfless service.”

The Deputy Senate President also used the occasion to encourage the young officers to pursue further education alongside their careers. He announced that the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation will sponsor the registration fees of any officer from Kano North who enrols in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) or other accredited institutions.

“Education remains the surest path to professional excellence and national development,” he emphasized. “A well-informed officer is a better officer — capable of contributing not only to security but also to the advancement of society.”

Senator Barau expressed his profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture. He lauded the President’s ongoing reforms aimed at empowering security agencies to perform optimally.

In addition, he commended the Inspector-General of Police for his swift and decisive response to recent security challenges in parts of Kano North, particularly for approving the deployment of two additional battalions of mobile police officers to reinforce security in the affected areas.

The event concluded with moments of celebration and goodwill as guests applauded Senator Barau’s continuous investment in youth empowerment, education, and community development.

Senator Barau I. Jibrin’s presence at the dinner and his commitment to supporting newly recruited officers reflect his deep sense of responsibility toward national security and human capital development — qualities that continue to endear him to his constituents and Nigerians at large.
