Bunuland Deserves More Developments – Otunba Braimoh
Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, the Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the 2023 Kogi State Governorship Election, has expressed deep concern over the lack of development in Bunuland.
Speaking to journalists at the sidelines of the centenary birthday and 64th anniversary celebration of Oba Adebayo Ikusemoro’s coronation ceremony in Olle-Bunu, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, described the event as a remarkable milestone.
Otunba Braimoh praised Oba Ikusemoro’s leadership, noting that his reign has promoted peace, tranquility, and unity in Bunuland.
However, he questioned whether the area has truly emerged from its challenges, citing the lack of road infrastructure, electricity, hospitals, and social amenities.
He questioned the claim that Bunuland is out of the woods
Otunba Braimoh expressed surprise at the Secretary of Bunu Traditional Council’s statement that the area is out of the woods.
He asked, “Are we truly out of the woods, when there is no road infrastructure, many of the communities in the area are not connected with the national grid, no hospitals, no social amenities, and the people are living in abject poverty?”
Braimoh’s rhetorical question highlights the stark reality of Bunuland’s development challenges. Despite the traditional council’s claim, the area still faces significant infrastructure and socioeconomic deficits.
He noted that all parameters indicate that Bunuland is still far from its optimal state, contradicting the notion that the area has overcome its challenges. He emphasized the need for tangible progress and development to improve the lives of the people.
Otunba Braimoh emphasized that he has slowed down his vocalization on the issue of insecurity in Bunuland because he has achieved his goal of drawing the attention of the authorities. However, he noted that cases of kidnapping are still being recorded, citing a recent incident in Olle-Bunu.
He urged the people of Bunuland to remain vigilant and support the security agencies in defending their communities from intruders.
He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in maintaining security and preventing further attacks.
He further lamented the total neglect of the area, resulting in poverty, unemployment, and frustration among its residents.
He called for purposeful and visionary leadership to drive development and prosperity in Bunuland.
Braimoh’s concerns about Bunuland’s development challenges highlight the need for urgent attention from the government. His call for visionary leadership and community empowerment is a step towards addressing the area’s challenges and driving prosperity.
He congratulated Oba Adebayo Ikusemoro on his centenary birthday and 64th anniversary on the throne of his forefathers, praising his remarkable achievements and legacy.
