Christmas: Former Governor Yahaya Bello Urges Reflection, Faith, and National Hope

The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in Kogi State and across Nigeria, urging them to embrace the spiritual essence of the season marked by the birth of Jesus Christ.

Former Governor Bello described Christmas as a divine reminder of God’s intervention in human affairs through the coming of His Son, whose birth symbolizes hope for humanity, reconciliation with God, and the promise of peace on earth. He noted that the season calls for sober reflection, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to lives anchored in love, humility, and obedience to God.

In a goodwill message signed by the Director of his Media Office, Ohiare Michael, the former governor stated that Christmas carries a powerful message for the nation, stressing that “the light brought by the birth of Christ remains relevant in guiding societies through uncertainty, division, and trials.”

He encouraged Christians to continue to intercede for Nigeria, praying for healing, unity, and divine direction for the country’s leaders and institutions. According to him, sincere prayers and righteous living remain essential in overcoming national challenges and securing a peaceful and prosperous future.

Former Governor Bello commended the culture of religious tolerance and mutual respect in Kogi State, describing it as a testament to God’s grace and a strong foundation for sustainable peace. He called on residents of the state to preserve this harmony while supporting the administration of Governor Usman Ododo in governing with wisdom, fairness, and compassion.

Reflecting on the deeper meaning of the season, he urged Nigerians to emulate the character of Christ by extending kindness to the needy, forgiving one another, and placing national interest above personal or sectional considerations.

He offered prayers for God’s continued protection over Nigeria and expressed confidence that, with faith and collective effort, the nation would experience renewal and progress. He also called on citizens to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism that God would grant the leadership the wisdom required to fulfil its mandate and bring lasting relief to the people.

“Christmas reassures us that God is ever present and faithful. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, may our hearts be filled with peace, our nation strengthened by unity, and our future secured by hope,” the former governor said.

He wished Christians a blessed Christmas celebration and prayed that the joy of the season would bring comfort, restoration, and divine favour to families and communities across the country.
