The Founder of The Movement (Tafiya Matasa), Comrade Shafaddeen Bature, has urged Nigerian youths to unite and prepare to take up the mantle of national leadership as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an exclusive interview at the 2025 National Youth Conference organized by the United Nigeria Youth Congress, with the theme “Nigeria First: Leadership Solutions to National Growth,” held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, Bature emphasized the critical need for the younger generation to forge strong bonds across regional and religious divides.
According to him, Nigeria’s history has shown that many of its most impactful leaders were under the age of 40, noting that their youthfulness and energy enabled them to deliver meaningful change during difficult times.
Bature lamented the recycling of leaders who have dominated Nigeria’s political space for over three decades, alleging that they have failed to deliver good governance despite repeated opportunities. He argued that the country’s current challenges demonstrate the urgency of empowering younger, more visionary leaders.
Speaking on the goals of the National Youth Conference, he clarified that the United Nigeria youth Congress is a non-partisan movement with membership drawn from all regions of the country. Its mission, he said, is to influence political decisions and shape electoral outcomes by 2027 through youth mobilization and issue-based engagement.
He added that the conference aims to unite Nigerian youths under a common purpose and ensure they speak with one voice regardless of ethnic or religious background.
