Crisis:Kogi NMA appeals to it’s President to re-constitute fact-finding Committee

Following the resolution of the crisis that has engulfed the Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA) in Kogi State, the Caretaker Committee of Past Chairmen which has been emplaced by the recently held Congress to organize the Annual General Meeting, (AGM) and the Okene outreach , has appealed to the NMA President to reconstitute the fact finding committee to resolve the lingering issues in the association.

In a letter addressed to the President, Nigerian Medical Association dated 16th July, 2024 which was signed by the interim Chairman, Dr David Aimila and Secretary, Dr Zubair Kabiru appealed to the national body to allow a Past President chair the committee, along with other past NOC or NEC members.

The letter which was caption, ” fact-finding committee’s visit to Kogi State: request for reconsideration, reads in part

“The Committee of Past Chairmen and Caretaker Committee of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State branch, writes to you regarding the upcoming visit of a fact-finding committee.

“We received a few hours ago a phone call, a soft copy of the meeting notice, and itinerary for the committee’s visit scheduled to commence in Lokoja tomorrow. Due to the short notice, we kindly request that you consider postponing the visit to allow for better preparation.

“We also respectfully recommend the reconstitution of the fact-finding committee. Our suggestion is to have a Past President chair the committee, along with other past NOC or NEC members. This would ensure a sense of neutrality and impartiality in the fact-finding process.

“Furthermore, the Committee of Past Chairmen brings to your attention that the letter dated July 13, 2024, signed by the NMA Secretary General, was not received by the members of the Kogi State branch.

“We therefore implore you to also take notice of the fact that the Congress of NMA Kogi State branch has spoken, and we as Past Chairmen were invited from retirement to save the situation by bringing our wealth of experience to bear to save the association from further shame.

“We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your confirmation of a new date and the composition of the reconstituted committee”.
