DEMOCRACY NEWSLINE NEWSPAPER TO HOST 16TH PUBLIC LECTURE AND INDUCTION INTO GOOD GOVERNANCE HALL OF FAME ON WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19

The board, management and staff of DEMOCRACY NEWSLINE Newspaper has announced plans to host its 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame on Wednesday 19th August, 2026 at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement by the management of the newspaper on Sunday in Abuja.
According to the management, the annual event is designed to celebrate outstanding individuals, institutions, and corporate organizations that have made remarkable contributions to governance, education, health, security, and socio-economic development in Nigeria.
The theme for this year’s lecture is: “Economic Reforms and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigerian Experience.”
Speaking on the event, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said the public lecture and induction ceremony will serve as a platform to appraise government policies and honour excellence in public service.
“The 16th edition is aimed at promoting accountability, good governance, and sustainable development. It will bring together policymakers, stakeholders, and achievers from across the country to deliberate on the way forward for Nigeria,” Chief Femi stated.
He added that several distinguished Nigerians, state governments, institutions, and organizations would be inducted into the Good Governance Hall of Fame for their exemplary service and contributions to national development.
The management said invitations have been extended to governors, ministers, traditional rulers, captains of industry, academics, and other stakeholders expected to grace the occasion.
The event is expected to commence at 5:00pm with a keynote lecture to be delivered by a renowned scholar and policy expert, followed by the presentation of awards and induction into the Hall of Fame.
DEMOCRACY NEWSLINE Newspaper noted that the annual lecture has, over the years, become a credible platform for recognising performance and encouraging best practices in governance across Nigeria.
