FUOYE VC Inspects Fasina Conference Centre ahead of official opening

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has paid an unscheduled visit to the Fasina Conference Centre, for an inspection of the cutting-edge facility with a 250-seat capacity, preparatory to its official commissioning taking place on February 17, 2025.

Joined by other senior university officials from the management team, Prof. Fasina expressed great joy and satisfaction with the extent of work completed at the centre.

In a news report posted on FUOYE’s website and authored by Omowunmi Kayode, the VC praised the efforts and commitment of the Director of Advancement, Prof. Olubukola Oyawoye, which according to him, ensured the project’s actualization within an impressively short timeframe.

Prof. Fasina, a renowned professor of pedology, was quoted as saying: “I’m thoroughly impressed. I never expected a project of this magnitude to be completed before my tenure’s expiration. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Director and her team.”

The report indicated that “The Fasina Conference Centre boasts cutting-edge technological equipment including smartboards, smart television, ensuring an enhanced learning experience.

“The center is solar-powered, providing a sustainable source of energy, and features air-conditioned facilities and kitchen amenities, making it an ideal venue for conferences, workshops, and other events.

“During the inspection, the Director of Advancement, Professor Olubukola Oyawoye, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support towards the project.

“She also extended her gratitude to the management team of the University, staff members and individuals who contributed to the endowment fund, which facilitated the construction of the conference centre.

“The commissioning ceremony, scheduled for February 17th, 2025, promises to be a significant milestone in the university’s history, marking a major leap forward in the university administration’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for staff, students and the wider community.”

The Fasina Conference Centre is one of the over 20 infrastructure projects, scheduled to be inaugurated as part of activities lined up for the university’s 9th Convocation ceremonies holding from February 17 to 23, 2025, and executed under the pragmatic and proactive leadership of Prof. Fasina as FUOYE VC.

Some of the other key projects to be commissioned during the Convocation ceremonies at the Oye Ekiti Campus include a 1,000-seat capacity hall, a 3-in-1 Faculty of Science Laboratory, a new Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, a Professorial Office Complex, a Postgraduate Studies Complex, the Faculty of Education Building, the Faculty of Law Complex, an Innovation Hub, and a Sports Complex Pavilion.
