Ganduje should withdraw his statement of capturing Ondo State Guber for APC Says Obule Delta Governor Aide
By Wilson Macaulay
Honorable Comrade Francis obule JP the SSA to the Delta State, governor on political matters, has called on the former governor of Kano state and current national chairman of APC, Alhaji Ganduje, to retract his statement of capturing Ondo State gubernatorial election for his political party, APC instead of campaigning for votes or telling the electorates what his party can offer for the good people of Ondo state.
Hon Comrade Obule in his statement, pointed out that there is need for Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje to withdraw the hidden agenda statement of capturing Ondo State because it is a dangerous attack on the Democratic process of our dear country Nigeria.
Honorable Obule the Delta State, Governor Aide maintained that the rule in every Democratic system of government is to allow the people to exercise their franchise to decide on who to lead them in every electoral cycle.
Obule explained that winning election is not by capturing the State but through a voting process where the people cast the ballot.
He challenged Ganduje further saying : ” You need to remember that if it is that easy to capture Ondo State You Ganduje should have used that purported power to capture Kano State during the 2023 Guber election. Please stop using Presidential Power to brow beat others to power., He added that it is unacceptable to attempt to wield presidential power to impose candidates as this contradicts and negates the principles and ethos of democracy.”
According to Hon Obule, the word capturing used by the the APC National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje is a brute force against the interest and wishes of the people of Ondo State and Nigerians as a whole which must be resisted.
Speaking further, obule said, Ganduje and his other APC stakeholders should allow a free and fair electoral proces in electing whoever will lead the people of Ondo State in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Obule warned that Ganduje should never think of taking Nigeria into a one party system, which is reminiscent of the Abacha era, where the five political parties registered in Nigeria then adopted Abacha as their sole candidate though by the grace of God that ill motivated agenda could not see the light of the day.
Continuing Obule added : ” Ganduje should not forget, the pains and agony Nigerians went through during the annulment of the June 12 presidential election, that led to some persons paying the supreme price, while others were chased away into exile.
He remarked that from 1993 to 1999 it took Nigeria six years for us to have what is called Democracy today.
Obule advised Ganduje and his co travelers, to tow the path of peace, oneness and united Nigeria by allowing the people’s will to prevail, because we have seen so many leaders, good and bad, who behaved the like him but today, their names are nowhere to be found in the history of Nigeria, except in the bad books of our country Nigeria,
Pointing out vivid examples Obule said:
” Those who formed the Association of Better Nigeria and those who organized One million Man March during the Abacha era are no more and their names cannot be mentioned with pride anymore, but people like late Awolowo, Anthony Enahoro, late Alfred Rewane, Tai Solarin, Ahmadu Bello Zik of Africa, Tafawa Balewa and many others who played patriotic and pivotal role for Project Nigeria, are kept in the good book of Nigeria history, simply because of their role in stabilizing Nigeria in their time.
Obule asserted that Ganduje as an elder statesman who has ruled Kano state as a governor through the process of election, should not use the phrase capture for Ondo state Guber, election, instead of allowing the electorates to decide who governs them in the forthcoming election, because Nigeria went through hell to achieve the democracy we are enjoying today. Speaking further, he added, the effort of our heroes pass towards maintaining the hard end democracy should not be thwarted by careless statements like capturing Ondo state.
Obule reiterated that Ganduje, on a very serious note, should retract the statement because it is against the spirit and letter of democracy, which is a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
The Senior Delta State Governor Aide appealed to INEC, the Security Agencies and other stakeholders not to, allow themselves to be used during the election of Ondo State and any other election that will come up in Nigeria, rather, they should play a neutral role, instead of taking side with the ruling party, which will not help any democracy to choose the right leaders.
