Sunday Kaze Emerges ACCDA President as Afizere Nation Holds Peaceful, Credible Convention in Jos

By Peter Azi – Jos

The apex body of the Afizere people, the Afizere Cultural and Community Development Association (ACCDA), has ushered in a new crop of leaders, with Mr. Sunday Kaze, a veteran police officer, emerging as the new President of the association.

Kaze defeated his closest contestant, Ada Abok Ajiji, polling 35 votes against Ajiji’s 25 votes to clinch the presidency.

Announcing the results after the peaceful casting of votes by delegates from various districts and branches, the 2026 Convention and Electoral Committee Chairman, Comrade Amah Ishaya Yakubu, flanked by other members of the Electoral Committee, declared Sunday Kaze the winner of the election.

For the position of Secretary-General, Comrade Joseph I. Ajiji polled 56 votes to defeat his only opponent, who scored four votes.

All other positions were unopposed.

The election was preceded by the presentation of manifestos by the candidates, who outlined their plans and programmes for the development of the Afizere people if elected into office.

Earlier in his speech, the outgoing President of ACCDA, Engineer Yakubu Ashom, expressed gratitude to God and members of the association for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure.

The convention and election were conducted peacefully and without rancour, reflecting the commitment of the Afizere people to unity, transparency and democratic leadership.

In his acceptance remarks, the President-elect, Sunday Kaze, pledged to prioritise education, youth empowerment and security, among other areas, as he assumes leadership of the association.
