Gov, AbdulRazaq Task Media On Professionalism

Media professionals have been advised to consider national interest in their reportage to make the society better.
The governor of Kwara state ,AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq gave the advice in his message at the Correspondents Chapel of NUJ,Grand Finale of year 2025 Press Week ,/ 45th year anniversary/Award of Excellence with the theme “Renewed Hope Agenda:-Mid-Term Appraisal of The Tinubu’s Reforms, Success and Prospects”held in Ilorin,Kwara state .
Governor AbdulRazaq who was represented by his chief press secretary Rafiu Ajakaye said the media should maintain the habit of responsible journalism.
He said the power of the media to change situation for better should not be undermined.
Governor AbdulRazaq commended the Correspondents Chapel for exhibiting professionalism in the discharge of their duties as the watch dog of the society.
He said media professionals reporting should always be in the best interests of their host community.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed hope that the renewed hope agenda of the present administration will make life better for common man.
In her keynote address,the Commissioner Kwara state Ministry of Communication,Mrs Bolanle Olukoju, represented by the Director of Information Services , Alhaji Olayinka Salau said the present administration inherited a government that is having teething problems at the onset.
She explained that introduction of the Renewed Hope Agenda has brought a lot of relief to the populace.
Olukoju said the removal of the petroleum subsidy though very painful is now yielding a good fruit.
She said the floating of the naira will go a long way in reshaping the nations economy.
The commissioner said the the present administration has been able to save a lot of funding through it’s blocking of leakages in different sector of the economy.
She said the transformation in the power sector will soon yield a good result that the populace will enjoy.
Olukoju urged Nigerians to exercise patience while the reforms embarked upon by the present administration which is yield the required results.
In his goodwill message ,the Director Cooperate Affairs , University of Ilorin,Mr Kunle Akogun said the media has assisted in making job easier for populace
He said with the advent of new technology more people now get acquainted with the happening in around government corridor.
In his message t Director General Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies,(MINILS) Comrade Isa Aremu represented by Mrs Damilola Omole said the media professionals have work greatly in shaping the society.
He said the renewed hope agenda of the federal government created the platform for improved welfare for Nigerians.
Comrade Aremu urged the labour friendly media professionals to use their wealth of experience to pass information for better development of the country.
In his l message, former commissioner for information in Kwara state,Alhaji Abdulraheem Adedoyi, advised the journalists to remain steadfast in their chosen profession.
He advocated for a media interaction with the state governor to enable them showcase their achievements.
Adedoyin said it is a challenge for the journalists to be able to report development beyond the capital city to enable others see them .
In his address Members Representing Edu/Moro and Patigi Federal Constituency of Kwara state,Mallam Ahmed Saba , represented by the Barrister Paul Ajiroba commended the chapel and media professionals for their contributions in enlightening the public on the activities of government.
He said the media serve as a reawakening platform for both the leaders and led which will enable them provide a purposeful leadership.
In his remarks Members Representing Ojomu Balogun Constituency at the state House of Assembly,David Oguniyi said without free journalist there can be no good development in the society.
He said the media has been serving as a checks and balances in the administration of good governance in the state and the country in general.
Oguniyi said the improvement in the activities of the media has further strengthen their contributions to nation building.
In his address entitled “Six years of Service,One Chapel,One Purpose:Reflections and Renewed Hope” the Chairman Correspondents Chapel of NUJ Kwara state Council,Mallam Abdulhakeem Garba , thanked Almighty God for granting him the opportunity to led the chapel for the past six years.
He expressed satisfaction with the achievement recorded through the support of members.
Mallam Garba assured that media professionals would continue to do their best in showcasing the activities in the society as they uphold.
He appealed to Kwara state government to organise a media tour for journalists to enable them report developmental projects at the rural communities.
Earlier in his remarks the Chairman Correspondents Chapel of NUJ,2025 press week committee ,Mr Demola Akinyemi described organising the programme as rare privilege.
He thanked members and friends of the chapel who supported the event which is a yearly activity.
