In a bold and unapologetic show of support, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the respected member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent statement suggesting there is nothing wrong with a one-party state.
President Tinubu, in a widely discussed remark, had stated:
“I just need to tell those who say a one-party system is no good: you don’t blame a people bailing out of a sinking ship when they have no life jackets. I’m glad for what we have, and I’m expecting more to come. That is the game. Welcome to progress; sweep them clean.”
Reacting to this, Hon. Doguwa described the statement as not only visionary but also a clear reflection of the current political tide in Nigeria. He called it a “beautiful and honest truth” that captures the overwhelming public shift toward the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The president is simply stating the obvious,” Doguwa said. “Nigerians are bailing out of fractured, visionless opposition parties and embracing the stability and leadership the APC represents. This is not coercion—it is conviction. The people want progress, and they see that in our great party.”
The lawmaker further urged all well-meaning Nigerians, especially those still sitting on the fence, to join the APC, which he described as “the only truly national party, not only in Nigeria but across the African continent.”
Commending the leadership of the APC, Doguwa praised the tireless efforts of the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, for fostering unity and mutual understanding within the party. “Dr. Ganduje has turned our party into a haven for all progressive minds. Every day, we are receiving new decampees from opposition parties—people who have realized that the future belongs to the APC,” he stated.
According to Doguwa, the opposition in Nigeria is fast becoming irrelevant, weakened by internal crisis and a lack of direction. He urged those remaining behind to quickly align themselves with the APC before being left behind by the wave of transformation sweeping across the country.
“This is a movement for development, prosperity, and unity. Those grounded opposition parties have nothing more to offer. The APC is the future, and the door is still open for anyone who wants to be part of Nigeria’s progress,” he concluded.
