Hon Muhammad Kashim Ikwa to Receive Prestigious Award as Icon of Public Service and Community Development
…Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman Honoured at Democracy Newsline 16th Public Lecture, August 19 in Abuja

The Executive Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Hon Muhammad Kashim Ikwa, has been selected to receive a prestigious award as Icon of Public Service and Community Development by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The award recognises Hon Ikwa’s exemplary leadership, grassroots development initiatives, and commitment to improving the welfare of residents of Gwagwalada Area Council.
Since assuming office, Hon Ikwa’s administration has been credited with road rehabilitation, primary healthcare upgrades, youth and women empowerment programmes, and sustained peacebuilding efforts across communities in the council.
Announcing the recognition, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said the award was instituted to celebrate public office holders whose works reflect the ideals of good governance, accountability, and service to the people.
“Hon Muhammad Kashim Ikwa has distinguished himself as a grassroots leader who delivers. His focus on inclusive development and direct engagement with the people makes him a worthy recipient of the Icon of Public Service and Community Development Award,” Chief Femi stated.
The award will be formally presented on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 5:00pm during the Democracy Newsline Newspaper 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame holding at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
The event will also feature a keynote lecture by Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State, and the induction of other distinguished Nigerians into the Good Governance Hall of Fame with the theme: “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development in a democracy the Nigeria Experience”
Chairperson of the occasion is Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, Veteran Broadcaster.
Special Guest of Honour is Hon Mohammed Idris, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Patron is HRH Akogun Isiaq Ajibola, Former MD/CEO, Daily Trust Limited.
Grand Patron is Hon Durosinmi Meseko, Former Member, Federal House of Representatives.
