Senator Sunday Karimi Mourns Passing of Eleta of Iyara, Oba Jacob Babatunde Meduteni

Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Eleta of Iyara, Oba Jacob Babatunde Meduteni at the aged of 75, describing the monarch’s death as a painful loss to the people of Iyara, the traditional institution and Kogi State at large.
Senator Karimi, in a condolence message, commiserated with the royal family, the people of Iyara, community leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders over the demise of the respected monarch.
The Senator described Oba Meduteni as a traditional ruler who dedicated his reign to the peace, unity and progress of his people, noting that his departure has created a significant vacuum within the community.

According to Senator Karimi, the late Eleta was not only a custodian of the cultural heritage and traditions of Iyara but also a father figure whose wisdom, counsel and commitment to the wellbeing of his subjects would be greatly missed.
He said the passing of a monarch of Oba Meduteni’s stature was a moment of grief for the entire community, urging the people of Iyara to remain united and draw strength from the positive legacies the late monarch left behind.
Senator Karimi extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Oba Meduteni, the royal household, the traditional council and the entire people of Iyara, praying that God would grant the late monarch eternal rest and give his family and subjects the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He further called on the people of Iyara to uphold the values of peace, unity, communal harmony and development that the late Eleta championed during his lifetime.
The Senator said Oba Jacob Babatunde Meduteni’s contributions to the growth and stability of Iyara would remain a part of the community’s history, adding that his memory would continue to live on through the people and institutions he served.
The death of the Eleta of Iyara has continued to generate tributes from across Kogi West, with political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders and residents mourning the departure of the monarch.
