KENW COMMENDS OMALA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN FOR PIONEERING COMMUNITY SECURITY STAKEHOLDERS’ FORUM
The Kogi East Neighborhood Watch (KENW), a community policing non-governmental organization, has praised the Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, Hon. Ameh Mark Peters Edibo, for successfully convening a community security stakeholders’ meeting aimed at strengthening peace and security across the council area.
In a letter of commendation signed by its Director of Public Communication, Wing Commander Iye Ayefu (rtd), KENW described the initiative as a landmark step toward improving grassroots security and fostering collaboration among key community actors.
According to the organization, the communication security stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Omala Council Chairman has set a commendable standard for other Local Government Areas in Kogi State to follow.
“As Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, you have blazed the trail in 2026 through the establishment of a Local Government Council Community Policing Stakeholders’ Forum,” the statement read.
KENW noted that the chairman’s proactive leadership and commitment to inclusive security dialogue have positioned Omala as a pace-setter in community-driven policing initiatives.
“This strategic engagement demonstrates your dedication to the safety of lives and property, as well as your resolve to unite traditional rulers, security agencies, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders in addressing security challenges,” Ayefu stated.
The group expressed confidence that the resolutions and initiatives arising from the meeting would significantly enhance security architecture in Omala Local Government Area.
“Kogi East Neighborhood Watch strongly believes that the implementation of the initiatives from this forum will greatly improve the security situation in Omala Local Government Area and serve as a sustainable model for effective grassroots security management,” the statement added.
KENW further urged other Local Government Council Chairmen and community leaders across the State to emulate the Omala example by prioritizing community stakeholders engagement and community policing strategies.
“Your laudable initiative is not only timely but visionary. It reflects the kind of leadership required to tackle emerging security threats at the grassroots. We once again congratulate and commend you for this outstanding achievement,” the letter concluded.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting collaborative security efforts across Kogi East and beyond, stressing that community participation remains critical to achieving lasting peace and development.
