Kogi Assembly Speaker congratulates Governor – elect, Ododo

The speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf has congratulated the Governor – elect for the state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on his electoral victory.
In a statement signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, the speaker described the newly elected Governor as a man capable of bringing positive development to the state across all sectors in view of his track record as a member of the inner circle of the current administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

He described the electioneering process which produced the incoming administration as a tortuous one, stressing the need for the incoming Governor to ensure he justified the generous support of the people across the state by coming up with humane policies and programmes.
The speaker charged the governor-elect to ensure he assembles the necessary intelligentsia that would design necessary documentation and birth policies that would guide him in the running of his administration when he assumes power.
Rt Honourable Umar, who called on the people of the state to rally round the incoming government, further urged them to continue to pray for the progress of the state.
He therefore used the opportunity to call on members of the opposition, especially the co-contestants in the just concluded governorship election to close ranks and rally round Alhaji Ododo for the benefit of the entire state.
On the part of the state legislature under him, the speaker assured the incoming Governor that the current members of the Assembly were people who understand the needs of the rural dwellers and are determined to promote laws that would turn around the fortunes of the people for the better.
