Kogi at the Crossroads: Why James Abiodun Faleke Represents Our Best Chance
Stanley Ajileye
In the past two weeks, I have received encouraging and heartwarming feelers from both Kogi East and Kogi Central. These are not casual conversations. They are serious, thoughtful engagements by prominent personalities who are already making strong and reasoned cases for power rotation to Kogi West.
What stands out most is not just the agreement on zoning, but the spirit behind it. Across senatorial districts, respected leaders have reached out to me on the Kogi gubernatorial project with one clear assurance: that there are still eminent men and women in this state in whose hearts the greatness of Kogi weighs heavier than tribal sentiment or personal ambition.
One recurring question has deeply humbled me:
“Pastor, how do we get Hon. James Abiodun Faleke to contest in the coming election?”
That question alone rekindles hope. It tells me I am not alone in the realization that Kogi State has its greatest opportunity staring us in the face. This opportunity must not be blown.
This is not just a moment for Kogi West. It is a defining moment for Kogi State.
For once, we have a son of the soil who is not only competent and tested, but also strategically positioned at the very heart of national power. James Abiodun Faleke is not a distant figure in Abuja. He is close to the President, trusted, respected, and heard. In governance, access matters. Influence matters. Timing matters.
If James Abiodun Faleke becomes Governor of Kogi State, one can only imagine the scale of federal presence that would naturally gravitate to our state. Even as a member of the House of Representatives, his record speaks louder than campaign slogans. He has facilitated more federal government projects to Kogi State than some sitting governors have managed in their entire tenure.
There is scarcely any federal constituency in Kogi that has not benefited from his reach, generosity, and commitment. This is not politics of noise. It is politics of impact.
Anyone who truly loves Kogi State, including other aspirants, and who is not driven purely by selfish interest, must see the wisdom in rallying behind a man who will always have the ears of the President and the confidence of the federal establishment.
Beyond personality, Kogi West must act with urgency and wisdom. The district must quickly and decisively agree on its best foot forward. Encouragingly, high-level deliberations are already ongoing. The recent Kogi West stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja was not business as usual. It was a powerful demonstration of resolve, maturity, and preparedness.
For the first time in a long while, I am genuinely impressed by the level of coordination and seriousness. This time, it cannot be the usual story of missed chances and internal sabotage.
I have written before, and I repeat with even greater conviction: James Abiodun Faleke enjoys overwhelming support across all senatorial districts in Kogi State. He has never been known for malicious political encounters or destructive rivalries. His politics has been issue-driven, inclusive, and dignified.
Kogi State stands at a crossroads. Delay, indecision, or fragmentation at this point could cost us dearly. History will not forgive us if we fail to seize this moment.
This is a chance Kogi West must not blow.
This is an opportunity Kogi State must not miss.
The path is clear. The time is now.
