Kogi Guber: Governor Bello, clearing grounds for Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman
The governorship election in Kogi state is barely three months and some days away, to be precise November 11 when the electorate in the state will have the opportunity to elect their new leader that will take over from Alhaji Yahaya Bello who is currently serving as the Executive Governor of the state then the state will have the 5th democratically elected Governor in place.
The current new direction administration came to be divinely in 2016 when late Prince Abubakar Audu who was the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress died while the election was still ongoing and since there was no provision in the constitution to whom should replace him, the leadership of the party then nominated Alhaji Yahaya Bello haven secured the second position in the governorship primary, hence he becomes the candidate of the party.
Immediately he came on board, he did not put anyone in doubt of his inability to turn around the die situations in the state especially in the area security, infrastructure deficit, poor welfare for the workforce, the state was divided along ethnic and religious line, all these ugly treads which has the main issues holding down the development of the state was reversed within few years in office.
Governor Yahaya Bello’s performances across all sectors of the state economic, be it provision of infrastructural development like road network, health care facilities, education, civil service reforms, eradicating of class system and religious intolerant in the state, all these make the administration the best since the creation of the state by the Military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in 1991.
This will be the first time and it is on record that an administration in the state will have it’s footprint in the three senatorial districts equally without loping it on others especially construction of roads, hospitals and other infrastructures across the state, and with the newly established state owned university sited in Kabba, headquarters of the West Senatorial District is another monumental achievements that stand new direction administration out being the first to established two state owned universities within three years.
Today, it can be said, the APC administration in state is a blessing that have united the people more than ever before, redistribute the resources of the state evenly in the area of political appointments, employment and other placement.
With the level of achievements that have been recorded in the last seven and half years in the state, the spirit of late Prince Abubakar Audu wherever he is, if he has the opportunity of looking back, he will be proud to have a worthy successor in Alhaji Yahaya Bello as many of his campaign promises has been taken care off by the current administration.
Despite the administration is winding down, the governor is still determine to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the state, hence clearing more grounds for the governorship candidate of the party, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman to have a smooth sail come November 11 election, so that he can consolidate on the achievements of Governor Bello.
