Under his leadership, the Polytechnic recorded significant improvements in campus safety, with 107 security threats successfully neutralised between 2020 – 2026, thereby ensuring a safe and conducive environment for both staff and students.

Widely described as proactive, easy-going and highly sensitive to security concerns, Mr. Atta adopted an intelligence-driven and preventive security approach that kept the institution largely peaceful during his tenure.

His strong support for the outgoing Rector’s administration was also noted as instrumental to the stability and smooth running of the Polytechnic.

Presenting the award, the Rector, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Atta’s selfless service, loyalty and results-driven approach to duty, noting that his contributions formed part of the broader successes recorded by the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu also commended him for his exceptional performance and brilliance in strengthening the Polytechnic’s security architecture.

As he bows out at the close of the administration, the Distinguished Service Award stands as a fitting tribute to a career defined by vigilance, commitment and excellence.

His legacy of proactive security leadership will remain a lasting reference point in the history of Kogi State Polytechnic.
