Kogi West APC Stakeholders Reject Alleged Forged Senatorial Primary Result
Stakeholders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West have rejected and condemned what they described as a forged and fraudulent document being circulated as the result of the Kogi West Senatorial Primary Election conducted on May 18, 2026.
In a press statement signed by Stanley Ajileye on behalf of Kogi West APC Stakeholders and Supporters, the group dismissed the purported result which allegedly declared Hon. Sam Aro as winner of the primary election.
The stakeholders described the document as “criminal, laughable, misleading, and intellectually dishonest,” noting that Hon. Sam Aro had officially withdrawn from the race before the primary election in compliance with party directives and in loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the statement, it was therefore impossible for a candidate who voluntarily stepped down from the contest to emerge as winner of the election.
The group further stated that all aspirants involved in the process had openly accepted Sunday Karimi as the consensus candidate of the party, adding that there were both written and electronic evidences confirming their acceptance and support.
They maintained that the authentic primary election was duly conducted and supervised at the approved venue, with Senator Karimi emerging as the validly elected candidate of the APC for Kogi West Senatorial District.
The stakeholders alleged that the forged result could be the handiwork of opposition elements allegedly uncomfortable with the growing reconciliation and unity within the APC in Kogi West.
According to them, the circulation of the fake document was a deliberate attempt to provoke mistrust, create confusion, and destabilise the renewed harmony among various blocs and factions within the party.
The statement also defended the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, saying he was not known for double standards, inconsistency, or political deception.
The group warned against attempts by “mischief makers and external forces” to drag the governor into the controversy or create friction between him and APC stakeholders in Kogi West.
They stressed that forgery and falsification of electoral documents were serious criminal offences under Nigerian law and called on security agencies to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the alleged forgery and their sponsors.
Reaffirming their support for the officially declared outcome of the primary election, the stakeholders insisted that Senator Karimi remained the duly elected APC candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District.
They also appealed to party members and supporters to remain calm, united, vigilant, and law-abiding while disregarding documents and information not issued through officially recognised channels of the party.
