Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Monday led a high-powered delegation on a series of condolence visits to prominent bereaved families in Sokoto State, offering prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and words of comfort to grieving relatives.

The visits, which underscored the importance of compassion, solidarity and communal support during periods of mourning, brought together political associates, community leaders and well-wishers who joined the families in prayers and reflection.

The delegation’s first stop was the residence of the late former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalil Aliyu, the Matawallen Yauri, who passed away last week after years of distinguished public service. Speaking during the visit, Malami conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family, describing the late statesman as a respected leader whose contributions to governance and community development would remain enduring.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Malami, accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Musa Zagi Madaki Kabi, also visited the residence of the late Alhaji Sardaunan Sokoto, who died on Thursday. The delegation offered special prayers for the deceased and encouraged members of the family to remain steadfast in faith, emphasizing that death is an inevitable transition ordained by Allah.

He reminded the bereaved that while the pain of losing a loved one is profound, patience, prayers and cherished memories of the deceased remain sources of strength and comfort.

The delegation thereafter proceeded to the home of Muhammad Saidu Sifawa to sympathize with him over the passing of his wife, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Sifawa. Malami prayed for Allah’s infinite mercy upon her soul and asked the Almighty to bless the family with patience, courage and the strength to overcome the difficult moment.
Addressing families during the visits, Malami noted that the loss of loved ones extends beyond immediate relatives, affecting friends, associates and the wider community. He urged the bereaved to remain prayerful and steadfast, drawing comfort from the teachings of Islam on patience, perseverance and total submission to the will of Allah.

He further stressed the need for communities to continue supporting families during periods of grief, describing such acts of solidarity as essential values that strengthen social harmony and unity.
Members of the delegation included Shehu Muhammad Koko, the Wamban Koko; former Member of the House of Representatives for Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency; Faruku Ed Gwandu; and Hon. A.B. Sabo, alongside other associates and supporters.

The condolence visits reflected Malami’s continued engagement with communities across the North-West, particularly during moments of sorrow, as he joined families in mourning and prayed for Allah to grant all the departed eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, while blessing their loved ones with the patience and strength to endure their loss.
